Looking back at Media Film Festival 2015 — Our Best Fest Yet

Bigger audiences, more fun on the red carpet and some of our best films ever, made the 8th Annual Media Film Festival, May 29th – 30th 2015, a memorable weekend in the elegant surroundings of the historic Media Theatre.

The films were well produced, entertaining and sometimes thought provoking. The audiences were enthusiastic. Being in a classic theatre brings just the right atmosphere for the shared viewing experience of a film festival. And the Saturday Night VIP After-Party added a splash of Hollywood glamour.

We have you to thank.

Our patrons, filmmakers, sponsors, ticket buyers, partner organizations and volunteers gave their time and support to make possible this glittering event for the Media Arts Council. The new and improved 8th Annual Media Film Festival included:

  • A strong partnership with the Media Theatre for the Performing Arts. We are grateful for their help and look forward this association resulting in some exciting collaborative arts events in Media. Stay tuned.
  • Better publicity, prominent signage and substantial press coverage resulted in more buzz and unprecedented box office sales.
  • Increased social media presence, such as “The Top 10 Reasons to Attend the 8th Annual Media Film Festival” created for the Delco News Network, re-posted on numerous blogs and social media sites, including the Twitter feed of Fox 29’s Sue Serio who re-tweeted it to her 30,000 followers.
  • Unprecedented individual giving connected to the Film Festival.
  • A Festival program chock full of local businesses and personal supporters.

The Media Arts Council is extremely proud of the Media Film Festival. This along with our many other programs is making Media a fun place to experience the all the arts. Our MAC center and gallery at 609 W. State Street has ongoing classes, workshops and exhibitions.  MAC is the first town chosen by the Philadelphia Museum of Art to be the site of the “Art Inside/out public art program.

What makes this all of this happen is support from patrons like you. Won’t you please consider making a donation? Or give of your time. We are seeking new volunteers to keep our programs growing.

Thank you.

Yours in the arts,
Dave Scheivert, Chair Media Film Festival
Judy Fowler, Executive Director Media Arts Council

May 13, 2015 (MEDIA, PA) – The Media Arts Council is preparing to roll out the red carpet and put up the big screen at the Media Theatre for this year’s Media Film Festival set for May 29th and 30th. A number of exceptional local films along with others from as far away as Finland, Iran and Australia will be shown during the 2 day Festival, now in its 8th year. “The enthusiastic reception we get from the community makes all the hard work worthwhile. We are very proud of this lineup of films and we have built a strong partnership with the Media Theatre which allows us to present the films on a large screen with HD and digital sound,” says Dave Scheivert, Chair of the Media Film Festival Committee, the group of local volunteers who screen and select the films.

The festival program is made up of a wide variety of short, independent films including dramas, comedies, documentaries, animation and even experimental films.
